EMOD v1.6 Released

EMOD v1.6 introduces a new feature for modeling disease transmission for a given population called Heterogeneous Intra-Node Transmission or HINT. While the software has always provided the capability to model large-scale spatial heterogeneities, disease transmission within each node was homogeneously governed by a single transmission parameter. The HINT feature provides a more accurate person-to-person transmission model of diseases in heterogeneous population segments within a node. For example, you can now create groups within a node defined by age, household and community structure, access to vaccines, or risk of being infected.

Along with a new disease transmission model for generic simulations, EMOD v1.6 also includes enhancements to the malaria model for age dependent transmission and the intra-host infection model, which supports research into clinical and severe disease prevalence and prevention. Additional parameters have been added to malaria to enable age dependent biting and HEG configuration. We also added two new mosquito larval density dependence models where daily larval mortality is dependent on larval age.
